I thought God wanted me
to love, to embrace, and to comfort
my friends and neighbors.
I tried to do that—
to be a place of love
for the hurting;
a place of rest
for the weary.
And I believe He
was pleased with my efforts
and with my heart.
But I know now that God
also wanted something more for me:
To laugh, to sing, to write;
to dance with glee at life.
He wanted joy for me;
and He wanted to enjoy me—
twirling with affection
and delighting in just
knowing Him.
